As a writing consultant, I want to help your company improve their writing skills to better communicate your company goal. As a former writing professor, I have addressed various issues writers face and created workshops to solve those problems. In addition to these following workshops, I can also mix and match technique to best fit your company needs. I can provide half-day, full-day, or series sessions.
In a four-hour workshop, participants will learn four important skills that will make their writing clear and concise. They will participate in hands-on exercises to apply these skills to written material.
In a four-hour workshop, participants will learn copyediting skills, proofreading skills, and comprehensive editing skills. They will participate in hands-on exercises to proofread and edit written material.
In a four-hour workshop, participants will learn a structural approach to writing reports. This will enable them to write a variety of reports: proposals, informative, and persuasive. Participants are encouraged to bring a previously written report with them to be revised during the workshop.
In a two-hour workshop, participants will be reminded of basic grammar rules that enable them to write accurately. They will participate in hands-on exercises to apply these rules to written material.
In the next two hours, participants will be reminded of basic punctuation rules. Participants will work with written material to apply the rules covered in this session.
In a four-hour workshop, participants will learn about the process approach to instructional design. They will be introduced to adult learning theories, design models, needs assessment, setting goals, taxonomies, and assessment.
“Sandi Harner is nothing short of an expert on clear and strong writing... Her expertise proved helpful again when she gave a grammar and writing seminar here at American Electric Power. I was genuinely impressed with both how she chose the most important points out of a college semester’s worth of material and how she interacted with the audience, keeping them engaged and entertained along the way. I give Mrs. Harner’s work my highest recommendation.”– Connie Winch, American Electric Power
